Our Vets

Dr Alan Mills

Alan was raised on a mixed farm in the Mid North of S.A. and has always been interested in the variety a rural mixed practice offers.  After completing his studies at Murdoch University, Perth, his first position was at the Strathalbyn Vet Clinic in January 1991.  In 1993 he left for an extended working holiday based in England.  Rejoining the practice in 1995, then becoming a partner in 1999 has meant that Alan and his family are well settled in Strathalbyn.  His particular interests include cattle, horses and alpacas as well as small animal surgery and oncology.

Dr Ross Lockwood

Ross has been with the Strathalbyn Vet Clinic for 12 years now.  He has over 25 years experience including some time as a “flying” vet in the Northern Territory, large animal practice in NSW and mixed dairy practice in Northern Victoria.  He has a keen interest in small animal medicine and dermatology and has completed post graduate training in small animal internal medicine, dermatology, feline medicine and small animal endocrinology. His other interests include gardening and reading.

Dr Katrina Walker

Katrina was born and bred in Melbourne and graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2001.  She spent 2 years in mixed practice in North-East Victoria dealing mostly with small animals and dairy cattle.  This was followed by 12 months in Sydney working for a large pharmaceutical company as a Veterinary Technical Advisor.  After running away from the city Katrina travelled around Canada and Eastern Europe before starting with us in May 2005.  Katrina’s main interests include small animal internal medicine and ultrasonography.

Dr Rhys Hayward

Rhys went to School in Adelaide before going across to Melbourne to study Veterinary Science, graduating in 2001.  He worked with Katrina in mixed practice in North-East Victoria for 2 years, and then spent a year locuming throughout South Australia and New South Wales.  After 3 months of travelling Rhys started at Strathalbyn and Riverport in May 2005.  Rhys’ main interests include small animal surgery and emergency medicine.

Dr Delwyn Bennett

Delwyn is originally from Adelaide and trained at Murdoch Uni, graduating in 2002. She has been working as a small animal vet since and has gained a lot of knowledge and experience in that time. She started with us at the start of 2009. Her special interests include animal behaviour and internal medicine. In her spare time Delwyn enjoys horse riding and looking after her many pets.

Dr Melissa Ford

Dr Hollie Hodgkinson

Hollie joined our team in January 2010 as a graduate from the University of Queensland. She grew up in sunny Queensland and worked as a vet nurse while studying to become a vet. Hollie loves the variety of mixed practice and is enjoying getting to know the friendly locals.
